POSTERS

The Rocket City Geospatial Conference : Call for Poster Presentations

Participants are invited to illustrate the use of geospatial technology

The second annual Rocket City Geospatial Conference (RCGC) has issued a Call for Posters inviting professionals and students to share maps that illustrate how Geospatial Technology is being used in their industry or research. Submitted posters will be displayed in the specially designated Poster Gallery area in or near the conference exhibit area.

Map Poster Submission Guidelines :

Only registered Rocket City Geospatial Conference attendees may exhibit posters in the Poster Gallery.

Poster Guidelines :

Posters should include a map as part of the presentation.

All submitted posters should measure at least 24" x 36", and be no larger than 36" x 48". Posters should be mounted on foam core or gator board backing.

To enter, please send a copy of the final poster along with a short narrative describing what is depicted, name and contact information (email and phone), and company or school. Students should also submit their academic level (HS, Undergrad, Grad, etc.).

Posters submitted prior to September 30, 2008 will be listed in the on-site conference program.

Participants are encouraged to submit multiple posters, as long as they cover significantly different content. Group entries are available for multiple participants who wish to display their maps together.

Each group should self-appoint one leader to be responsible for:
  • Soliciting group membership from other Poster Gallery participants.
  • Organizing members' individual entries within the space allocated for the group.

Student Poster Competition :

Posters submitted by students will be eligible for cash prizes awarded in the Student Poster Competition. Posters will be judged on cartographic design, information content/communication, technical skill, and innovation/originality. Judging will be by the RCGC Executive Planning Committee.

Non-Commercial Entries :

The spirit of the Poster Gallery showcases your GIS or survey accomplishments and demonstrates how you are using geospatial technology to map, interpret, manage, and improve our world. Entries may not be used as a promotional device for commercial purposes. Any entry that overtly markets a product or service will be disqualified.

Poster Gallery Location :

Space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with no exceptions. Participants who wish to display their posters in proximity to others should register as a group.

At the Conference :

Participants must check in at the Rocket City Geospatial Conference registration table inside the Huntsville Marriott to register their posters. Presenters who do not check in before noon on Tuesday, November 18 may forfeit their display area to walk-in exhibitors.
